State League

Ashfield competes in State League Division 2, the third tier in WA. This includes an Under 18s, Reserves and First Team.

The Head Coach of our State League Team is James Sammut, with Nathan Grostate as his assistant. This duo have been in charge since the 2023 Night Series and have overseen a significant improvement in our standards on and off the pitch.

Our 2024 Club Captain is Jake Melia.

The Reserves are coached by Lyle Crompton and Tony Campbell, with our Under 18s coached by Owen Walsh and Carl Page.

Ashfield has shown a proven commitment to giving young players an opportunity to progress into First Team football. This is evident with an average age regularly in the low 20s, and a long list of players who have made their first team debut at Ashfield.

We do not believe in having open trials every year, and our players are guaranteed a spot for the next season until we are no longer the right option for them.

However, we do occasionally advertise for interested players to attend a training session or invite-only trial to fill remaining spots. This will be posted on our Social Media pages.

Community adults

Ashfield currently has a women’s team participating in the Football West Metropolitan Leagues, a social competition for adults.

These sort of teams are an amazing opportunity for people to participate in our game without the pressure of worrying about promotion, relegation etc.

Our women’s team is led by Jayton Downey, who has been in charge since 2023 and seen a dramatic increase in registrations, as well as team performance.

Ashfield hopes to offer an equivalent men’s team in 2025.
